For the third consecutive time, Gaastra is the main sponsor of the grand Dutch sailing event Gaastra Breskens Sailing Weekend in Zeeland, the westernmost province of the Netherlands. Running from August 30 to September 1 off the harbour town Breskens on the Westerschelde estuary and the North Sea, the 3-day event will attract top Dutch and Belgian sailors but also entries from France, Great Britain, Italy and the United States. J/111 one-design class, being given “International ISAF Class” status last year, will set sail as well upcoming weekend – following Spi Ouest France at La Trinité-sur-Mer, Porquerolles and Cowes Week, Gaastra Breskens Sailing Weekend 2013 marks the final event of the inaugural European J/111 Circuit 2013. Season’s Swan 45 Northern European Circuit sees its final event (following North Sea Regatta Scheveningen last May and Swan 45 World Championship Cowes last July) at Breskens too. Five Swan yachts will be competing, among them Samantaga (BEL) led by Swan 45 World Champions Philippe Moortgat and Patrick van Heurck. Ker 46 Tonnerre de Breskens 3 by „Mister Breskens“ Piet Vroon (NED) and the Grand Soleil 46 Bounty by Peter Huysman (BEL) competing in IRC 1 class will grace season’s Gaastra Breskens Sailing Weekend as well.
