The first Dutch King in 123 years!Ceremonies start today at 10 am with the abdication of Queen Beatrix at the Royal Palace at Dam Square followed by the inauguration of His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange at De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam. As of today, Queen Beatrix will be titled HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau. Who wouldn’t want to be a princess at the age of 75? In the evening starting at 19:45 pm, the new King Willem-Alexander and his wife Queen Máxima will take part at the Royal Boat Parade (Dutch: ‘Koningsvaart) at the river IJ Amsterdam joined by numerous historic ships.
