World’s biggest Catamaran Race off the Dutch island Texel on June 28 will celebrate its 37th editon with more than 500 international participants competing and 15.000 attended visitors at the legendary Dutch Catamaran Regatta on the North Sea, sailing clockwise around the island of Texel. Gaastra, again, is the official clothing supplier of this competitive Cat Race. The Round Texel Race 2014 (Dutch: Ronde om Texel) is the pinnacle of the Round Texel Race Week running from 25-28 June including the Texel Dutch Open with in total ten scheduled races from Wednesday to Friday.
Round Texel 2014 and the Round Texel Race Week gather speed with two novelties this year: For the first time, the Dutch catamaran sailing events will be official events of the F18 class. Both events now count towards the Dutch F18 Championship 2014. Moreover, the Round Texel Race has been extended to the discipline Windsurfing being part of the ‘Open Dutch Championship Marathon Windsurfing‘. Texel will be the epicentre of catamaran sailing and windsurfing at the same time! Qualification for the Open Dutch Championship will be held on Friday 27th June. The 50 qualified windsurfers will race on Saturday 28th June starting at 8:45 am, fifteen minutes earlier before the catamaran-fleet starts at 09:00 am.
