This season Gaastra Breton is divided into two themes: ‘Tour de Belle Ile’ and ‘Bay of Biscay’. First one is inspired by the same-named and legendary regatta in Britanny, of which Gaastra is one of the proud partners. A nostalgic summery Brittany colour card with sun bleached red, faded Tourmaline light blue, the white of sails with a washed marine blue highlight as well as aquarelle prints of old sailing photos set the tone for this refined collection – this is the Brittany look at its sweetest summer best!
Named after the famous navy and white stripe which originates in Brittany, Gaastra Breton is offering a great selection of striped nautical fashion as well – discover season’s highlights such as the Women’s Longsleeve Pas de Calais with a somewhat wider submarine neckline and an elaborate embroidery on the front making it a fashion must-have for all fans of stripes. Men set out in a fashionable way while wearing the beige-colored Gaastra coat Affinity – sailors style reinvented! This elegant double breasted coat enchants fashion-conscious men with its large buttons and numerous nautical details. The Bay of Biscay collection, named after the famous Gulf of Biscay stretching from the western coast of France from Brest south to the Spanish border and the northern coast of Spain and being one of the hardest sailing areas, combines a sober color card with cool looking sturdy details and finishes. Robust sailing elements such as the sturdy cord in the stitched edges, large sail maker stitches, cotton laces for toggle fasteners and patchwork sailcloth labels are found in the classic styles such as the reefer jacket. Cable knits have extra structure in bouclé yarns, while the shirts have very fine stripes and checks with a small, antique looking cotton badge at most. Both themes are characterized by a luxurious handcrafted feel and a sun and seawater bleached look that is typical for Gaastra.
